Welcome to the new look OSCASA website. We would ask that ALL artistes download the most current Guidelines which outline the standard expectations for working conditions on set. These and other industry information can be downloaded from the DOWNLOAD section of this site. The guidelines are there to serve as some protection to you as an artiste. Where the guidelines are not adhered to by your agent, it risks losing the negotiated improvement to your working conditions. Rates also form part of these guidelines. Over the past 7 years we have negotiated with producers to establish a guideline of equitable rates and fair terms on overtime, wardrobe etc. Things to bear in mind if you have an agent or are thinking of entering the industry. - Ensure you vet the agent. They should have a CK number, physical address and contact number. In the past, several agencies operating purely on cell numbers, have come and gone along with the artiste’s money. - Your picture is what sells you in the industry. Agents should take your picture in person in addition to taking any professional pictures you may have. This ensures that your pictures are current. - Agents will also measure your sizes when you register in person; many jobs are very specific on size for wardrobe or castings. Agents do not rely on artistes to provide this information accurately. - Registering in person at an agency, gives you the opportunity to meet your agent and also get an idea of their set up. Registering online is fine, but you should physically go in to register as you need to give a copy of ID and also read and discuss the agent’s terms and conditions. - Agency Fees and Commission. This should be specified with a maximum stipulated in your registration document. A failure to do so is a breach of your consumer rights. Any changes to the Agency Fee on a job must be agreed to if above the fee stipulated on your form. WE WILL UPDATE THIS INFORMATION ON A REGULAR BASIS There are many other good reasons which if you read the guidelines will become clear to you as an artiste.
